Hello everyone. Many of you may know me from HTLAL. I am pleased to be a part of this new forum where language-learning is discussed intelligently. It is also good to see Cainntear and Peregrinus again. I've missed your posts, guys. When the next major outage happens on HTLAL, and it will, I don't want to be left without a language home. I hope to be able to add to the discussion here and help where I can. My language learning of late has been mostly focused on improving my Portuguese. I can listen to and read anything in the language but my grammar still needs some cleaning up- it's time to work on that. I've also been doing some slow study of Ladino (Big Dog, any chance of adding it to the language list?) which is a lot of fun, despite the fact that there's not ever going to be much of a chance to speak it. I've also thought about having a look at another Caribbean language- Sranan Tongo (not on the list either) for a possible trip to Surinam next year. It's only 500 miles away, but, you can't get there from here- easily. I will admit, I was skeptical of a forum where, "anything" goes, but without the trolls, teenagers and people who think "gee, it would be nice to learn a language, but I don't really want to work that hard at it", this is quite refreshing. Big dog, thanks for letting this reptile be a part of the pack. (Also, Big Dog, how do I add Spanish to my advanced languages?)
Hi good to see you here I am elcomadreja at HTLAL and I have nothing against it, it's just become impossible for me to use :/ I've still got Portugese in my back pocket alternating listening to that and Cebuano.
Welcome iguanamon, and thanks for the kind words re myself. We're still small here, but hopefully as we grow we can avoid some problems found elsewhere, or at least manage them better.
Thanks for the warm welcome, Peregrinus, Bob and Cainntear. I don't know what took me so long, I guess I didn't want it to seem like I was being disloyal to HTLAL, but I've been lurking here for quite a while. The more I read, the more I saw from members I knew and respected. I wanted to take part. I finally decided that it was time to join. The level of discourse here is quite high. I like that.
Welcome to the forum - great to have you here! I added the 2 languages you requested to the list - they are at the bottom for the time being. The way you get more than one language to show up in a category is to use the control key when you select.
Exactly! Quite foolish of me. I've remedied that now. Also part of my reluctance was in having yet another social media platform in the mix. Thanks for the welcome, Stelle.
