When you click "Reply" on a particular post the forum software quotes it automatically, or at least it does for me in Firefox.
tastyonions is right. I need to upgrade the software to enable multiple posting. I'll do this sometime in the near future. Thanks for your patience.
The multi-post function will let you do multi-posts and nested posts automatically. The work-around is to do what I think biTsar did - quote one post, cut it, then quote another post.
I didn't do that, I just clicked on the "Reply" for each post and both appeared like magic in the reply window below. This site is more amazing than you're letting on, hehe.
I'm still trying to get my sea legs here. It feels like sometimes posting a reply with quotes is a 3 click process. I'm familiar with the HTLAL interface, etc. I'm glad the BB editor is here as that makes sense to me. It's nice that the BB codes seem to be automatically interpretted. Or maybe that's part of the multiclick process. I'll continue to pay attention.
Another thing is posting seems at times a multi-step process. I would expect to just hit <Post Reply> below and be done. I mention this because a couple of my posts didn't seem to make it or showed up later or something. Not immediate gratification.
I hit "reply", typed my response, then I hit "post reply". If I don't want to quote you, I just type my response in the box at the bottom, then hit "reply". So it's either a 3 or 2 step process.
When I hit "post reply", it doesn't normally post it -- I have to click a second time. At first I wasn't aware of this, but I'd keep coming back to threads and my message wouldn't be there, and a draft version would be waiting in the edit box.
(And as if to prove the point, I clicked "post reply", the button greyed out for 20-30 seconds, then reappeared and I had to click it a second time to get the above message to post successfully.)
That's bizarre - it works for me on the first click. What browser are you using? Is anybody else having that problem?
I looked at it when I posted yesterday. I was expecting something I posted to show up immediately under New Posts. I didn't find it there. I went into my profile, then selected the "Your Content" link and found my post. I'm used to using the "Active Topics" link at HTLAL to quickly find something I just posted. I'll need to pay attention to understand what the difference is here.
