I have to admit I also bought his book. I read through it on a trip a couple of months ago. I found nothing of substance in it. At best I see Benny's value as a motivator and not a lot more. It's interesting watching his YouTube channel too. Over time, you see the fluent in 3 months claim be reduced to....3 months is all I'm allowed to stay in the country I'm living in and the goal is to see how far I can *get* in three months. Funny, but I don't see fluent in there anywhere :) As someone else said, it's basically just a brand he's built to earn money.

Steve is an interesting case too. I tried out LingQ for a bit. The content seems pretty good but the website, to me, was horrible. And I didn't like the Android app either. Not being able to highlight phrases (only individual words) in the app was a major issue in my opinion. Anyway, searching his forums I found several people mention that the website could use a revamp and smooth out the rough edges. Steve's reply? We think it's just fine like it is. I stopped giving him $10/mo after that and bought a Kindle for reading and highlighting books in Spanish.

The feud between Benny and Steve is hilarious. I've always been curious where/how it started but never found out. There is a post on Benny's website that gives his "honest and detailed review of LingQ". He basically tells all the things he doesn't like, suggests that the free version is all he would recommend using and then suggests the free Learning with Texts software as a better option. And of course Steve comments and it turns into a bit of a comment fight. The whole thing seemed childish to me...but it was pretty good entertainment! haha
