    At least there's none of this "time out" nonsense that makes the length of a game effectively indeterminate....

    In Germany people speak about "America" when they mean the United States and they speak about "Holland" when they mean the Netherlands. I don't agree to this usage, but it's so common to hear this in Germany.

    Agreed. This is one of the reasons why I like Australian Rules Football -- the game is almost always in motion. This is nothing like American football where every miniscule infraction results in a delay of game, perhaps a video review, some banal pronouncement over the loudspeaker by an official. What is this, a funeral ?

    By the way I'm not denying football's (soccer's) huge popularity -- had I grown up playing the game I might enjoy watching it today.
