Amazon lists it as a pre-order. Some of such listings seem never to actually get printed or get severely delayed. I've learned my lesson with pre-orders and just add something to my amazon wish list instead to remind me. Given that from reviews of MT courses made after his death, that the authors seem not to have been left a detailed guide to his method and only intuit it for themselves past the basics, I would not be filled with confidence in the work, especially with the notorious difficulty of Korean. Still it is just an introductory course, and if it inspires learners to carry on from there perhaps it cannot be that bad. While it is unlikely to contain glaring errors, I'd bet dollars to doughnuts it will contain glaring omissions.
With 5 months, that sounds to me like it's still at a very early stage. MT Hindi was announced for pre-order with a similar six-month lead time, but it didn't come out for years after having been cancelled and recommissioned. Even now, all I can find on Amazon is the "Start Hindi", so apparently they never made much headway....
I wrote Michel Thomas a few years ago asking what further courses would be offered and they said none. It's nice to think my informant was wrong!
Personally, I wouldn't use Michel Thomas's method becuase when I've listened a lesson by him, the teacher had truly terrible pronunciation and the students were absolutley idiot, I think that they had some jokes and the most useless, stupid ones were on the recording. I prefer to learn from the native speakers. of course I don't mean that I can achieve this level, but at least I don't learn only bad mistakes because this is what they do.
Sure. And advertising can be misleading too. But people who think Michel Thomas is all they need to learn a language, or even all they need to learn grammar, must be held at least partly responsible for their own disappointment with the program. As long as it's used as a quick shot in the arm of grammar, it's a good supplement for just about any program. I've used Michel Thomas in 4 languages, and even the ones that people complained about the most were quite useful.
