Yay! a poll. I love dogs, as you've probably guessed. We had a springer spaniel when I was a child. I had 2 dogs when I was with my ex, who I'm ashamed to say I had to give away when we were divorced. One of the biggest regrets of my life, but my vagabond lifestyle isn't conductive to owning a dog. Probably the biggest single reason I will settle down soon is that I want to have dogs again.

Yes, I guessed LOL It's great that the forum is called polydog and that the admin is Big Dog :)

When i was younger i had fear of dogs, that they'd bite me, but since I have my enormous, gentle and soft poodle, i love the dogs. I don't like the ones that look vicious, but I suppose those aren't popular, mostly.

The cats won't visit this forum haha

I like cats too. There are some cat people here. I wonder if anybody has cats who get along with dogs? That's always pretty neat to see.

My wife and I adopted our dog about four years ago when he was 10 months old. He seems to be a cross between a black labrador and a Rhodesian ridgeback, but I guess we can't know for sure.

    Here is a picture: http://imgur.com/0nhiVue

He gets along fine with our two cats. One of them simply avoids him, even though he's never aggressive, but the other will put her face right up to his and sniff him despite the fact that he's like six times her size.

They call them Savannah cats, a hybrid between the domestic Felis catus and the African serval, Leptailurus serval. That one is named Magic and happens to have a fairly gentle, even tolerant personality. These hybrids don't always work out so well, some become too much of a handful for their owners and there are "rescue" organizations to take them in and try and keep a lid on the problem.

Hmm, responsible owners keep their cats indoors or enclosed out of doors or on a leash, but I've found cat owners who go into total ballistic mode if you suggest such a thing. "My cat would never kill many birds!"
