One of my tutors mentioned that it might be a good idea for me to read news. I said that I agreed, but that I prefer to read things with transcripts. Lot's of people on language forums recommend Эхо Москвый, but I've had a hard time finding broadcasts that have transcripts. Голос Америки (Voa Russia), unlike voa for most languages, doesn't come with audio. So she took that as a little bit of a challenge, and she pointed me to Первый Канал. The video and audio are both clear, the text matches the audio, and the articles are usually of convenient lengths (1 to 15 min long). I haven't worked much with this yet, but I wanted to share it with you guys.
Thanks, I didn't know about the transcripts on chanel 1. You can also find transcripts on Euronews (in several languages, btw) and there is also the site of russian slow news (it's out of date but still can be useful if real news are too fast, it's a first approach.) For me the russian news are too fast, anyway, I understand nothing.
Yes, it's a good resource. Occasionally I rip the audio from a video, and import it with the text into LingQ. Repeated reading and listening helps the clips become comprehensible.
Where do you find the transcripts on Первый Канал? I see the videos but I can't seem to find the transcripts.
To the right of the word НОВОСТИ there are different subjects. Select one (for example, Политика) but not Видеоновости because there is no text. You will get a page with a bunch of thumbnails. Choose one that has a video (arrow head). You will get both the video and the text.
