http://www.economist.com/blogs/prospero/2013/11/multilingualism Mostly, the articles on Whorfism are irritating because they completely agree and think that all mulitlinguals have multiple personalities, or they completely disagree and say that it's wrong. I know that I also have this tendence to be too black and white thinking, but in this case, my opinion is that it's in the middle and that there are many factors. I like the article's balanced analysis about from where the influence come, and types of bilingualism. The writer said that not all bilinguals are bicultural. But this is great that it discuss this bicultural. Then also the priming. The 3rd argument was the things intrinsic in each language. Personally, when I use my different languages (I know 5) I am the same person, and for sure I haven't other personalities, only one. But each langauges has its cultural things, and this is a big influence. My native language French is different that my Dutch, German, Spansih and English because I am not foreign in this language, therefore theoretcially no disadvantage to present myself, although soemtimes I have nasty problems generally with the communication or perceptions and this affect all my languages. My 4 foreign langauges are more distant of my soul, this is the biggest difference. What's your opinion?
LOL. I'm not so moody, I don't think that I have ever experienced depression or extremely divers moods. But I don't think that Whorf is about the moods.
