Hi everybody, I'm writing from exile as I have been given some sort of time-out over at HTLAL just because of a silly debate about Russian politics. Anyway, here I am! It's nice to see so many well-known faces in a new guise. As most of you will know, I'm focusing on three languages at the moment: Russian, Irish, and Japanese, but I have also been dabbling in a number of languages without getting very far with them. I have been studying Russian for two years now, completed a Langenscheidt course and Colloquial Russian, and am currently dealing with Colloquial Russian 2 and native materials. Until recently, I was Captain of Team Катюша over at HTLAL, but this is suspended for the time being. I would like to visit Russia, although I'm not too happy with what's going on over there right now, but that's another topic. I have been studying Irish for a year now. I originally started studying Scottish Gaelic, but after a trip to Dublin and Cork I decided to switch over to Irish. It's a truly beatiful language, very complicated, but I love it. Unfortunately, there aren't many great resources, so I take what I can. I have finished Colloquial Irish and Gaeilge gan Stró and I'm now working on Gaeilge gan Stró 2 and Learning Irish. Additionally, I have Living Language Irish, but it's still sitting on my shelf. Last but not least, there's Japanese, another crazy-beautiful language. I have been studying it for about one and a half years now and I'm still not very good at it. I have finished the first volume of Genki and am now dealing with Genki 2. I have also worked with Colloquial Japanese, but left it after the first half, because the learning curve was to steep. I might get back to it sooner or later, though. I'd love to go to Japan, but unfortunately travelling to Japan is quite expensive, so I'll have to save some money before I can go there. Anyway, nice to meet you all! I'm looking forward to interesting discussions. See you!
