People only care about themself.
I think Ayn Rand wrote an epic length pamphlet on the subject which some just shrugged off...
Atlas, for example.
Altruism brings pleasure to people. So I guess you could say doing good for others and doing good well is a selfish pursuit. But it's not an easy pursuit. How about telling us your thoughts ?
I don't know, I can't decide at all.
When I've posted the thread I was sad and upset, it's why.
Htlal is elitist and therefore only care about themself, often I've read the people write there that they are so happy with the moderation because it mean that everyone is always polite, and also when a person was banned, they could return if they are valuable.
Then I've thought about value and people, if one person is more valuable that the other. of course, then you (generally, not me or 'you') care more about the valuable ones, and they can have an elite position.
Then I've thought about the hierarchies, and who is valuable or not. Then I had such a horrible feeling, and have thought that it's wrong, but not all the poeple care only about themself, I know. I couldn't decide, but to not decide is not comfortable. I wanted to read the other opinions.
I didn't mean altruism is the opposite. I don't know what I think about this, but for sure I hate such competition or depend of the value.
Best to look for the good in everyone. With that as our pursuit we can also find the good in ourselves.
