    In this respect it probably actually does. I don't create both directions of cards, but if one does, then Anki is trying to avoid one seeing both sibling cards in the same day's session. The buried cards should show up the next day unless one manually unburies them.

    Not at all - biTsar was being sarcastic. It's a little more complicated than what you stated, but I want to see both sides on the first day I put them in. They used to be nicely spaced, but remained in the same day. This recent change forced me to open up each deck and disable the new function in two different locations. Anki is just a tool.
