Hi Big_Dog, - I am new to the forum, and maybe I missed something reading through this thread. I am Russian, but my husband and son don't speak Russian, so I always try to get them to watch my favorite Russian TV series or movies with English subtitles. Кухня is one of my favorites, so I've been searching for a long time trying to find video files with English subs. I couldn't find any existing seasons dvds with any language subtitles, so I decided to translate and create subtitles myself. Reading through this thread, I could get the Russian transcript files for the 1st 10 episodes, and one "srt" file. But you mentioned that you posted a few episodes with English translation, and also subtitles for Кухня в Париже (but I cannot figure out how to get the rest of the files you mentioned from this forum). Could you direct me how can I get all the transcripts and subtitle files for Kuhnia seasons/episodes you have so far? I can help with translating and creating English .srt files for the remaining episodes. Thanks!
I am planning to create English subs for all episodes. Don't know how long it will take me, but will share the srt files, when I am done. I found English translation files for the 1st 4 episodes here, now in process of verifying English translation. If it's the only English translation available, I will proceed translating the remaining episodes into English (starting from Season 1 episode 5) using graciously provided episode transcripts from this forum. I will need help from native English speaker to proof-read my translations. Will you be willing to help?
Welcome to the forum arisha! On the bottom of the first post of this thread, there are many attachments. They are all labeled. There are transcripts for 60 episodes in Russian, and about 3.5 episodes in English. There is also a Russian transcript for the movie. It would be awesome if you made english translations. The 3.5 that I made are amateur; my Russian level is only B2, so feel free to correct them. There are also some minor mistakes and omissions in the Russian transcripts. It would make a lot of people happy to have these in the form of subtitles, so that would also be much appreciated. It's a lot of work, so maybe some others here would be willing to help you.
Thanks! Just wanted to make sure that I don't do the repeat work if more translations exist. So, we have 3.5 episodes translated into English so far (by the way, your translation is very good -better than many translations out there, - I just corrected a few minor mistakes). I will proceed from there. Youtube has a Russian close caption option, which is complete gibberish in terms on translation and voice recognition. But I am planning to use the saved (and synchronized to voices) subtitle files from Youtube for each episode (you can save subtitles from YouTube via KeepSubs program) and replace the gibberish text with normal translated text. It's still a cumbersome and time-consuming work (trying to figure out which text goes where), but still saves some time as opposed to using subtitle creation software, where you need to go frame by frame to enter subtitles. I will be posting the English translation .srt files here, one by one, upon their completion. I am working full time, so can devote 1-2 hrs per day to subtitle translation/conversion. But hope to finish season 1 by mid-December. Starting from episode #4, would be helpful if you, or other native English speakers could review the translation to make sure that the English dialog flows correctly, grammar, etc. Thanks for such a great resource, without dialog transcripts I would have never ventured into creating subtitles for so many episodes! P.S. Do you know, if somebody planning to prepare transcripts for season 4 (which is running right now and is great!)?
I see the episodes popping up in youtube, but nobody has told me they are going to create the Russian texts yet. I'm sure it could be done for about $50 on Elance.
Hi evrybody! I'm new in this forum. It's an excellent resource, thank you guys! I've just downloaded Кухня - Серия 01-60 (interlinear texts).zip but it seems like I can't open it.. By the way, what's the difference between this and the docx files?
Hi atlas02, and welcome to the forum. The interlinear texts contain a word-for-word english translation. I don't know why you can't open it, but it's a very big file, if that makes a difference. Most people download the Russian transcripts without the word-for-word translations.
I have English subtitle files ready for the first two episodes (sorry, for episode 2, at times subs go too fast or go out of sync, but that's how the automatic subs were timed on closed caption version on Youtube. If anybody has a good synchronized .srt file in any language, please provide it here, and I will replace the text with English translation). I could upload here as .txt only file. To make them .srt, open the file and save them with ".srt" extension. Worked for me. Here you go:
Yes, strange, - they open fine for me. I re-uploaded the files, - can you try again - see if it works now?
Hi, Thank you very much for the transcripts, it helps a lot and made me discover this show. I found on the Internet a set of subtitles in Bulgarian for season 1. They seem to be well synchronized, so anyone with a little time on its hands could simply copy-paste the russian transcripts into the srt files. I tried with ep1, and as Bulgarian and Russian are fairly close, it is easy to get it right, but VERY time consuming. Anyway, Bulgarian subtitles attached! : (BTW, sorry for my English, I'm French, and you know how french are bad with languages)
Hi all! I'm a new kid on the block from Indonesia . I thought this forum could help and improve our knowledge of language. Спасибо большое!
To help Lamode, here the subtitle in .srt for the episode 14. If you use it with VLC don't forget to change your "encodage" : Outils (Tools ?) / Preference / soustitre OSD / encodage par default / cyrillique
