Big thanks to my tutor patineuse for the Russian transcripts and member pat tou for the interlinear texts!!! As you may know, I advocate listening from the beginning. Personally, I like to watch TV or movies that have subtitles or transcripts. I like to use LingQ to help me read, so having a transcript is sometimes preferred over subtitles. And I prefer the subtitles or script to be in L2, in case there is any doubt. So I've watched many Russian movies and TV shows. I ended up watching a couple hundred of the series Воронины, mainly because of the availability. But it was based on an American show, and the language contained lot's of idioms that I didn't get, and I was told by almost all my partners that it isn't a good example of Russian. And there are no transcripts or subtitles. Since then, I have found several much better series. My favorite is Кухня (kitchen). It comes highly recommended by my tutors, high quality video and audio, beautiful and interesting characters, funny and sexy plot, nice music, no laugh track, etc. The story is of a young cook who moves from his home town to Moscow with the goal of becoming a famous chef. He fumbles his way into the kitchen of a classy French restaurant, into a love-hate relationship with the very pretty restaurant art director, is constantly enraging the mean old head chef, etc. Lots of fun! But of course, it didn't have a transcript. It just so happens that one of my tutors absolutely loves this show, and went through the trouble of typing out the Russian transcript for the first episode to help her students. She wants them to use the show to learn Russian. After seeing the first episode, I was hooked. So I made the big decision to have my tutor type out the Russian scripts for all the episodes. Here they are - all 60 episodes (3 seasons, 20 episodes per season) Russian transcripts and interlinear texts, a 100 min feature movie, and a slowly growing set of english transcripts. I hope all Russian language learners will be able to put these to good use. Enjoy!
You bet. I'm still working on an english translation of the first episode. Almost finished though (edit - finished; transcript above) If anybody has any corrections, feel free to send them in, and I'll incorporate them. I've noticed a few spots where there are just question marks, so that would be a good start. Also, feel free to ask questions here. I'll try to get the tutor to come here, since she really enjoys talking about the show.
Really fun show! I look forward to your translation since more than a few words in the transcripts have me stumped. For example, I couldn't find полпервого on google translate, leo.de (German-Russian) or my paper Penguin dictionary. I did find it in a monolingual Russian online dictionary, but my skills are not there yet. Probably something simple. Closest I got to it was "first floor"??? I'll definitely mention these elsewhere, they're a great resource. Thanks so much.
I absolutely love this series, and a set of accompanying transcripts has been on my wishlist for ages. Огромное спасибо, БД!
Thank you, Big_Dog, for your effort! I still cannot get this following line in episode 1: Why did the boss thank the chef?
Thanks Oleg. The chef was responsible for serving the bosses friend food with pepper (even though Vika was the one who put it on). The friend was allergic to pepper, so he was rushed to the hospital. While he was in the hospital, they gave him a thorough examination. Not related to the pepper problem, they found a heart problem which was about to kill him, and fixed it. So because the chef served pepper, he saved the bosses friend's life.
This is incredible! I've been looking for some time for subtitles/transcripts of a modern Russian TV Show. Another interesting show is сваты, but I am really glad I found this !! If you have other recommendations, please post them. Thank-you!
Update - just added season 3 (ep 41-60). I have to stop here, as the 4th season hasn't come out yet. I have no plans of doing future seasons, or the movie, as of this time. Thanks again to patineuse for her work and enthusiasm about this series.
You and patineuse are knocking out these wonderful transcripts at the speed of summer lightning. Большое спасибо вам обоим!!!
