    There are Bulgarian subtitles from episode 4 on:

    Is there a way to download and extract the subtitles so they can be turned into an SRT file?

    5th season that was released recently is the best season of "The Kitchen" so far, and most succesful one, judging by TV views. That season would be the perfect way to end this TV show on that note, but I doubt it'll happen. It is available on Youtube already, by the way. In case somebody interested in watching it, the first episode of is here

    It is, they introduced a lot of new interesting characters and different setting, plus I like how Vika-Maks storyline was finished. Good changes with Maks personality, and that was one of the characters I didn't like to watch at all in previous seasons
    Although first 2-3 episodes of that season were somewhat of a let down for me and disappointing, but the rest of it get a lot better after.
    There's not enough of Nagiev in that season, because that guy easily steals all the attention in every scene he's in

    Cool! Now I'm really looking forward to watching it. Interny is starting to get a little stale for me. Thanks for the information.

    I don't have an english translation, but did you see the interlinear text? That might be close enough for your students.

    Thank you. I just want to compare my translation with native speaker's translation. Interlinear text is a little bit different.

    I have just registered here and downloaded the transcripts, and I can't express my gratitude for them! An amazing job... I am Polish and have been learning Russian for about half a year, and understand most of what is being said in the series as some formulaic expressions are quite often the same in our languages. Sometimes, however, it gets a bit tricky, and I can't for the life of me comprehend a particular word - that's where the transcripts will come in really handy from now on. Thank you, patineuse!

    Can someoen help me out? I have sucessfully downloaded and opened the .docx file. I also downloaded the .zip files, but when I view them in the extractor (I tried with both Windows default and also 7-zip), there is only a single subfolder "_MASOCX" and no files. Also, the after extraction is 0 kb. Any ideas how to fix this problem?

    I just watched the first season and am really excited to watch more with subtites/text!

    I don't know anything about the subtitle files; I only posted the transcripts in the OP. You might want to send a message to Marine directly about subtitle files, assuming it's one of hers.

    Thanks to all for this resource. I've started going through, looking at the transcript, the translation, the interlinear, and there are 4 things I want to comment on in the first 5 minutes of episode 1:

    1. Вас хозяин зовёт (4:43) - translated in the translated file as "you owner calls". Вас is accusative. I believe a better translation is "the boss is calling you", or even "the boss wants you".

    2. Ты что? Типа, убегаешь? (2:52) - is translated in the translated file as "What, are you the type that runs away?" This is not right. For a start Типа is genitive and it can't be "are you the type?" (which would be ты такой тип, который убегает?) Типа in the genitive means "kind of, sort of, like, along the lines of, .... or something ". "What, are you kind of running off?" "are you running off, or something?" would be the translation. I found some examples on Google: "Подруга ругала меня, типа, я очень строго с ними" - "my friend scolded me, saying something like I am too strict with them". "Мама моя долго ругала меня, типа вот, зачем ты худеешь", "my Mum spent ages telling me off, along the lines of 'look here! why are you losing weight?'".

    3. Ничего себе. Что ж эти свиньи всегда перед моей сменой-то проигрывают (5:08) - this transcription seems right, but they say ничего СЕ - се is a quick form of себе. The translation of the bit immediately before this segment was given as "Yesterday Spartacus played. How much did he lose? 100,000 rubles." But there is nothing about anyone losing money in the Russian. It just says сколько. I think the ничего се(бе), which means "not bad!" implies the person won 100,000 roubles (not lost it), and then the other person goes on to comment that the team always loses before his own shift (where the -то combined with the possessive adjective preceding the noun emphasises "my own").

    4. Слышишь, урод. Тебя комбат вызывает. - (3:57) I'm not sure of this transcription. I think it is: слышАЛ, урод? Тя (=тебя) комбат вызывает. "Freak, did you hear that? The commanding officer is calling you".

    I'm not picking holes. The resource is one of the best I've ever seen for learning Russian, but I thought some people might benefit from these notes. I can continue them as I work through if someone is interested in reading notes of this type.

    I think you said above that no more episodes will be transcribed after 60. But if you do, and you are seeking a financial contribution, let me know.

    By the way, it's great that there are more than 17,000 lemmas in the full transcript. I read in the introduction to Nick Brown's frequency dictionary of Russian that 10,000 is enough for fluency in any language, and beyond that the words are too seldom encountered to be worth learning. So that means this series ought to give a large enough range of vocabulary for all normal purposes. Of course, it is one thing knowing one form of a word and another recognizing all conjugated forms. But anyone who knows 17,000 lemmas and all their conjugated or declined forms ought theoretically to be fluent!

    Thanks David, for all your input. I'm not actively learning Russian right now (just maintaining), but I'll keep your comments in mind when I get back to it. If you're looking for more material, have you checked out the Интерны transcripts? There are 120.

    It'll take me a while to get onto Interny - I think maybe the 60 episodes of Kukhnya and the 120 of Interny should be enough to train my listening comprehension! Thanks!

    I've finished episode 1. These are further corrections:

    1. поваром в ресторан--->поваром в ресторанe
    2. кухня у вас, конечно, простовата--->кухня, скажу, простовата
    3. с каких это пор ---> с каких-то пор
    4. два через два--> two days on, two days off (not "from two till two")
    5. да не ты удивлять. Ты уже удивил.--->"it's not you who'll do the suprising; you've already surprised me" (not "It's not you who'll be surprised, you're already surprised").
    6. eсть работа, которая по силам только тебе--->есть работа, которая под силу только тебе
    7. не жуёт--->не жрёт (="eat, gobble", rather than "chew")
    8. подавай-ка, Вик, горячее--> serve the hot course, Vicky (not "C’mere a minute, Vik, hurry")
    9. здорово - with accent on 2nd o is "wholesome", not "awesome"
    10. сказал, выпишется, заедет, доест, у тебя.--->he said when he is discharged, he will drop by and finish eating your food (not "He said his prescription is to drop in on you and finish eating")
    11. некоторым сама жизнь даёт второй шанс -- to some people, life itself gives another chance (not "sometimes your life itself gets a second chance").
    12. сам боится себе в этот признаться--->сам боится себе в этом осознаться (осознаться=realize, followed by в+prepositional)

    I've completed episode 2 and started episode 3. There are transcription errors -- generally small ones like напишем шефу эсэмэску for напишем шефу в эсэмэску -- and I'm thinking of finding a native speaker to read through the entire transcript and correct all errors. Also the translations of 4 episodes done by someone have many errors. Тоже мне, шеф-повар is not "all the same to me, chef". It means "some chef!" or "chef, my foot!" or "I'll give you 'chef'!" [This can be confirmed from the Russian dictionary of idioms at https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=vOh0AgAAQBAJ&pg=PA641&lpg=PA641&dq=то же мне "my foot"&source=bl&ots=KsDn-GTjqR&sig=oTnpg2gcIJfBZAno1LA-gGez8jE&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjhkZKrvObKAhVFthoKHSGeABkQ6AEIVjAJ#v=onepage&q=то же мне "my foot"&f=false] It's still a great resource, of course!

    episode 2 corrections

    1. Вы уважаемые гости ресторана-->Вы уважаемые гости элитного ресторана
    2. Вы никогда не узнаете, как на самом деле к вам относятся-->Вы никогда не узнаете, как на самом деле к вам хоть относятся
    3. форель эстрагон - it sounds like that, but it must be форель с эстрагоном
    4. Приписал себе две несуществующих способности-->Приписал себе две несуществующие способности (приписал=ascribed to yourself, not "relied on")
    5. А что ничего не заказываете? - this "shto" means "why", not "what".
    6. что ты меня лечишь - what are you having me on for (not "lecturing"). See definition 3 at https://ru.wiktionary.org/wiki/лечить
    7. Тоже мне, бармен.- some barman! (not "I'm a barman, too")
    8. Не готовь! -- "it's not ready" would be не готово (neuter). This form, ending in soft sign, means "don't cook".ons
    9. Чё, я запутался--->Чёрт, я запутался
    10. обделать--->обделаться
    11. При чём здесь я?: not "I'm staying here", but "what's it got to do with me?"
    12. Ну, такая, которая Вам понравилась--->Ну, та, которая Вам понравилась.
    13. вот падла--->Он падла
    14. ты нарываешься -- you're bringing trouble on yourself, you're heading for trouble (cruising for a bruising)
    15. Как-то неудобненько получилось: not "Something inconvenient always happened…", which would imply an imperfective verb, but "it's turned out rather awkward".
    16. Фреш сделай!: "make me something fresh" is the translation given, but I see that this phrase on Google refers to blending a fruit juice. Maybe in the context of someone with a spinning head something stronger than a fruit juice would be intended, of course.
    17. от греха подальше -- not "stretch it out a while longer", but "as a precaution, just in case".
    18. арт-директор - this is from the English "art director", but restaurants/night clubs etc don't have art directors in English. This seems to be the manager who handles the presentational side of the business, including, as shown in Kukhnya, handing the barmen, the waiters, the cleanliness of the eating area. As far as I know, this is called a "front-of-house manager" in English, as opposed to the back of house manager of the kitchen.
